Hey, it was a good day at the Show! That's 4 grams of Lunarite (Lunar meteorite) in my hand above left. Approximately 4 kilograms of lunar meteorite have been found and recognized. Private possession of lunar rocks brought back by the Apollo missions is illegal, but not lunar meteorites, which didn't get a ride back courtesy NASA. Lunar meteorites were blasted off the surface of the moon by meteorite impacts and launched into space with enough energy to reach escape velocity, and then fell into the gravity well of Earth. Only 3 lunar meteorites are in private hands, making this one of the most rare and exotic (and expensive) materials a rockhound can silverpick, even more so than Martian meteorites. Walt related that this piece of the moon in hand represents about one tenth of one percent of all lunar meteorite known, and it wanted $60,000. I guess if you're serious about purchasing this rock, you are probably certifiable as a Lunatic... Lang's is also showed and offered smaller pieces of Lunarite, starting at a only $100.
