Red Cloud Wulfenite
- Wulfenite
Lead Molybdate, PbMoO4
- Wulfenite is an uncommon mineral generally considered to be of secondary origin. This mineral forms
as crystal aggregates of various colors and is associated with a large number of base metals and
other minerals.
- Stuart provides the following remarks:
- "Probably the most distinctive colored Wulfenite's are those from the famous Red Cloud Mine.
The brilliant red color is unmatched by any other locality. I've always felt that if you could
only own one Wulfenite it would have to be from Red Cloud. I'm sure many are familiar
with the stories of the well known collectors/dealers Ed Over and Art Montgomery who brought out
the very best pieces in the earlier part of this century. These crystals measured inches across.
Great pieces from these finds can be seen in most museums across the country."
