- Smithsonite is a secondary mineral commonly found in the oxidized zone of zinc deposits in
limestone gangue. It is formed by the alteration of sphalerite and is commonly associated
with hemimorphite, cerussite, malachite, azurite, anglesite and other oxidized lead and
zinc deposits.
