Interests: An Over-the-Hill died-in-the-wool rock collector that is still an excited "Newbie." My favorite expression is: "Oooohhh, stop the car! I see a good rock!" After all these decades, I'm currently taking a Geology 101 class to find out what I have been collecting all these years... . Maybe after the class, I might even learn "WHERE" to look. If it's pretty or unusual, I pick it up. My favorite is probably Opals. I have been walking the Western Nevada hills for over 35 years and my garage and back yard show it! Anyone want to share some good, above ground sites for me to check out in Western Nevada? I'd sure appreciate it. After all these years , I finally acquired an old, small rock tumbler... maybe now I can see the real inner beauty of what I have been collecting for many years.

Kool! This is the first time I have EVER been on the NET, so thanks for being there for me!

Club: Imperial Polk County Gem & Mineral Society
Interests: No specific interest. I haven't been doing this long enough to develop a focus. I have taken classes in Cabbing, Faceting, and Silversmithing. I have enjoyed them all but am not very good at anything yet. I hope to eventually qualify for a Graduate Gemological Degree through GIA. I have received my first set of lessons, but finding the time to get to them isn't easy. I was elected President of our club this year and we have a new show chairman and we have moved the show to a new location. Also, I am starting to work at home for a newly formed company.

Thanks for providing this venue. How do I get on the Rockhounds Mailing List?

Interests: Crystals, singles and small clusters, mostly thumbnail to small cabinet size. I simply don't have room for many larger pieces. Enjoy personal collecting, trading. Occasionally purchase specimens, usually in the $10 to $20 range, sometimes a bit more. Particularly enjoy collecting in Idaho's high country, miarolitic cavities in A-type granites, mostly containing smoky quartz and feldspar with the chance of finding topaz and aquamarine. Geologist, MS.

Club: none
Interests: I am most interested in finding rare and unusual rocks that have ascetical value. Most of what I have collected is used in my garden, but it is the rocks themselves that I am interested in. I live in Northern California and do most of my collecting in this area. I am interested in finding out about areas where rare rocks and minerals can be found.

Fun, fascinating, and interesting. Want more!
