Just thinking of You
Watching whitecaps roll into the ocean of blue. With a smile on my face just thinking of you.
The sweet memories, the tender moments we've shared. They caress me like the soft breeze that fills the air.
The loving feeling I get when I hold your hand. The summer night when we walked in the sand.
Waves splashing on the rocks along the shoreline. Brings tears to my eyes knowing that your mine.
Sharing a love like ours my happy heart sighs. Watching the violet clouds carelessly floating by.

I guess I just took to it naturally...

Somebody gave me some unopened geodes and I happened to see
the article in the NYTIMES. This is a very nice site. Very
well done. My compliments. Maybe the information given on
the bulletin board will help me open them. I've tried the
hammer and sock routine, but that didn't seem to work. Either
the hammer was too light or I was too tentative. I don't have
a cold chisel so that may be out. The pipe cutter may work.
Time to call one of my friends. Thanks.

Actually I got started collecting rocks when I worked in excavation. I would be standing down in a hole we would be digging forgetting about what I had to do and looking for "neat" rocks. I have found several fossils including two i am very proud of. Both of these are in lime stone. One is a fern I think, on a smooth-faced piece measuring about 3" long. The other is a snail shell about 2 inches in diameter. I would really love to know more about collecting, cutting, polishing, and carving. I've seen the polished spheres made from different types of stone and would really love to know how to create those, along with the eggs and geode cutting etc.
Only had a brief look nbut you seem to have covered all and more than I want in a very logical format

Brand new at this. Started collecting pebbles from seashore, then given some really nice petrafied wood, onyx, fuchsite, basalt, and other igneous and sedimentary rocks. I have been cutting and polishing them to appreciate the beauty more. I think I am more interested in the natural beauty of the rocks rather than polishing up a tiny sample. I prefer to cut the rock in half or quarter and polish up the exposed inside. That way I can see how it grew and the beauty it holds.
I'm just getting back into stone and am pleased to find others out there. Thanks

I'm looking for some areas to find Rutillated Quartz, Tourmalineated Quartz and Druzy Quartz. I am also looking for a organization, that will teach Lapidary to Children. I
Have 2- 18" saws, 1- 14" saw, 2- 10" and 1- 8" saw. Also 4 arbors set up with grinders and 4 arbors set up with expanding drum sanders, 1 arbor set as a polisher with leather pad, muslin and hard felt. I worked as a volunteer lapidary instructor at a Boys and Girls Club. When they threw me out, because I couldn't teach with a computer, she was going to send all this equipment to the dump, so I took it instead. I have written a lot of letters but so far nobody wants to help me get this to the children. I also teach Wire Jewelry as a fund raising project for a Childrens
Foundation that I have been volunteering with for the past
19 years.
This is a fansatic site. Thank-you. I will have to add this site to my favorites list.
