Rock, minerals, fossils, and gems in natural matrix. I tumble and polish all types of material, but I am not interested in any other lapidary. I organize field trips for my club. I like to trade with other rockhounds.
Great site!! Can I put the link on my site to your site? My site is not intended for commercial purposes. I decided to start my homepage so that it may broaden everyone's knowledge of gems and increase their opportunities to enjoy them. Looking forward to receiving your comments.Sue

My husbans and I were hiking near Dallas, TX and found a basketball-sized, uncracked geode. We know nothing about it... how they are formed, what type of crystal is inside (white & clear), are they common to Texas and how should we clean it (I am less than excited about putting it in my new dishwasher:). We would like to start collecting as we are avid travelors and hikers. Going to Crested Butte, CO in MayAny comments on Geodes or rocks in Texas or Colorado welcome. Any good resources for beginners in this hobby?

I am a newcomer to rock collecting. It all began because I wanted to do something my 10 year old son liked. And shortly after my small home became a rock garden,. So my husband and father -in- law gave me a half of a garage to use. Well one thing has led to another and now I drag everyone in to see my "shop" not yet complete but my list of rock machines grows almost daily.P.S My husband and 5 year old refer to my pretty rocks and dirt as "leavitrites" sorry honey I just could not leave those poor lonely rocks right there

My dad gave me a rock tumbler for Christmas. I love to collect rocks, and he thought I might like to polish some of them and maybe even make some jewelery.
Bob's Rock Shop has really grown on the internet and comes up on just about any search. Love to see so many other rockhounds around the world. When we first started our business there weren't as many on the internet. Now it's booming! Hope to meet more of you in the future.

I mine NH pegmatites, also have been collecting in NY, Ohio, Vermont, Maine and Canada. I love rock collecting, and buying and also the physical part of actually mining them from the earth. It's like going into a new frontier, or finding hidden treasure. Happy New Year! and good luck to all the rock hounds out there.

My collection consists of mostly cabinet sized specimens of the more common minerals like quartz, calcite, galena and fluorite, and thumbnails of some of the rarer and gemmy minerals. Fluorescents also interest me. My collection is aesthetic as opposed to systematic. I also facet, and micromounting is a newfound interest.
