ERUPT: Erupt is a graphical program that simulates various volcanic eruption types, including Strombolian, Plinian, Vulcanian pyroclastic flows and surges, Hawaiian fluid lava flows, fumarolic activity, and Peléean viscous lava dome emplacement. Tectonic (faulting), caldera and sector collapse, and erosional events are also simulated (technical details).
GEOTRIG: GeoTrig is a collection of geologically-related geometric and trigonometric problem solvers for Windows.
MINERAL MASTERY: Mineral Mastery presents information on 200 of the most common minerals and any number can be added or deleted. Information is presented via 4 tabs named Physical Properties, Images, Facts, Notes. The potential expansion size of the database is unlimited and the compression and indexing technology used assures fast performance. It is a simple matter to restrict the user interface to display only certain minerals. Searches and browsing can thus be conducted against a much smaller database which is important when working with students in Introductory level classes. Databases and images can be exchanged with other users.
SEISMIC: Seismic is intended for use in college-level geology and geophysics courses. It permits a student to evaluate some of the experimental data supporting current seismic models of the earth, by comparing predicted travel times from his/her seismic model of the earth with experimental measurements in the literature.
MAGNETIC: Magnetic is intended for use in college-level geology and geophysics courses. It permits a student to evaluate some of the experimental data supporting seafloor spreading and geomagnetic field reversals, by comparing the predicted magnetic anomalies from his/her magnetic model of the ocean floor with experimental measurements in the literature.
