Anyone with info on how this rock formed?? Found both rocks in same general location years apart. Site is quite remote and has only had winter logging activity, soils are mostly silty and is located in ancient floodplain area in east central BC. Both found on top of winter road cut. What baffles me mostly about the larger rock is how the "small nodules, on the outside edge, formed so uniformly and that the "crease lines" formed across it in several places. Any info or comments appreciated. from Garth 7/15/2012

Same piece flipped over and shown wet. Not a whole lot of pattern in this one but it does have the typical spherules near the center of the nodule. I have found that when cutting this material some very interesting stones can be made from the skin area. This may be true for most nodular and vein material. from Ward 1/10/2012
A partial nodule of "Waterford" Agate. Unless you are familiar with what to look for you may overlook this piece. from Ward 1/10/2012
Same piece shown wet. The cells are quite a bit smaller than the typical "Petoskey". Again I like the color of this piece. A lot of the fossilized material is embedded in a gray limestone. Some, like this piece, are not gray at all. from Ward 1/10/2012
Here is a fossilized piece of coral that I am unsure of the type. This would probably be overlooked by the untrained eye. from Ward 1/10/2012
The same stone shown wet. from Ward 1/10/2012
Here is a "Petosky" that if one is not careful it could be easily overlooked. I like this particular stone because of it's color. Typically "Petoskey" is gray. from Ward 1/10/2012
Here is another photo of a "Petoskey Stone". This one is a bit smaller but the cells are very obvious. When wet the "Petoskey" is easily recognizable. On the other hand when dry they are not. from Ward 1/10/2012
In this photo you will see Michigan's State Stone. The "Petoskey Stone" is slightly algae covered but if you look closely you can detect the dimpling of the coral cells. Roughly centered in the photo. from Ward 1/10/2012
