I thought you were talking about a viber-lap. I try something years ago for tumbling you might try. It was a floor polish called Future polish it was a clear liquid. You could either paint the Future polish on with a brush or dip the stone in the Future polish. The Future polish would come off the flat surfaces with the tumbling, but stay in the vugs. When you are all done you just need to soak the stones in ammonia solution to remove the Future polish.
