...One more time... your blades may be dished....as you say you have experienced "PAST ROCK JAMS" ..these usually will damage the blade....
(remember to always REVERSE your blades every two weeks...)

The carriage usually rides on two parallel, rectangular-section tubes ...riding on ball bearings, the bearing mounts, should be able to be loosened and moved to take up the play, then re-tightened...Carriage must move freely...so not TOOO snug!
