Thanks for all the inputs.
I have posed this question on several sites and at clubs. No one has first hand knowledge of an actual flash point/fire problem. Many that responded have used kerosene for 40 yrs or more. Several add oil [Qt/5 Gal]. It appears the fire problem, in practice,is minior if one uses common sense. ie use in open areas/outside.
All agree it smells bad--but so does a lot of the oils used. The pluses appear easier clean-up [of stones], availability and price [$7-9/gal].
I am now using it in a HP 24 inch saw. I will report any fires/explosions.
