Re: Super Glue won't adhere to Tumbled Stones
It sounds to me like you have grease or oil problem on your stones or your caps. What I use a product called Xylene (A De-greaser) by Klean-Stripe available at Home-Depot. I keep it in a small baby food jar on my work bench. I drop the caps into the jar of Xylene and pick them out with a pair of long handled twisters as I need them. I also have a cotton swab in the jar to clean the top of the stone off .
I also use clear 5 min. epoxy and apply it to the cap and than sit the cap on the stone. Another tip I set up my stones I want to cap in several 10 inch cake pans half filled with white sand in them so the stones stand up. The only problem I ever had with this method is try to get that last stone before the epoxy starts setting up these are the stones the caps will come off of. I have capped thousands of stones using this method in the last 40 years and it works.
Hope this helps
