First off it's Pilbara. The correct spelling can make a world of difference. Its an area in North West Australia inland from Port Hedland. Absolutely stunning scenery and one of my favourite places. Its big, remote, rugged and just fantastic. Look up the town of Tom Price on Google maps or Google Earth and you will be in the middle of it.

A lot of Jaspers can be difficult to get a good polish on due to variations in hardness and density throughout the stone, orange peeling and undercutting are problems you can get. I have a couple of wooden laps I use for polishing difficult stones, one has Aluminium Oxide and the other Chrome Oxide, I usually get a good polish with Al then finish with Chrome.
