Using a press is certainly the right way of doing it, however if you don't want to spend the money to have a machine shop press them on, you can use a pipe but you must make sure the pipe is only pushing on the inner race next to the shaft to prevent damaging the bearings. Sometimes you can rig a press out of pipe and an inexpensive floor jack most of us have and do it right. If not light tapping on a pipe resting only on the inner race should not damage the bearings. Replacing bearings on these multi-station units is never an easy task. After you do it once, you will have more respect for your unit and will be less likely to abuse the unit and it's bearings. Before you start take things apart mark or measure where everything is so you can put them back in their proper place.
