Hi Ward and Mark,

Ward, I think you have it right - it looks like a scour rock from a pothole. These can become amazingly round over time as they are propelled around inside the captivating pothole.

I've found a number of similar scour rocks in some amazingly deep potholes cut down into bedrock in the channel of the upper Little Colorado River, which is normally dry except during runoff and flash floods.
