...Yeah, I agree with Bob..the "soft" water is slightly more adicic, and tends to "react" with the rocks...producing the foaming you are experiencing.. I use a vibratory tumbler and harvested rain water ..that has a mild carbonic acid in it, due to the interaction with the atmosphere.. Bathing ladies complain how long it takes to rinse off in this type of water! (keeps the kidney/etc stones at bay, tho !!) Hope the "hardening" of the water works... tony
