Re: Arizona Collecting Sites for Kids

I'm unsure of geodes... but I know there are a ton of fossils between Show Low and Hwy 17, near Payson.

Closer to Hwy 17 there are also some great pseudomorph crystals, up to a couple inches in length, in a dry creek bed. Very unusual shape and texture, they almost seem plastic.

These are both from a book, "Minerals, Fossils, and Fluorescents of Arizona", Neil R. Bearce. I found this to be a great source during a road trip I went on. When I get a chance I'll reference it and see what might be close (close being relative) to Show Low.
