I will tell you it is North America. That is all. Hope that helps. As for the identity of the material I agree that a lab work-up would be the best way to identify. The identity was based solely on word of mouth by a highly educated rock shop owner who has been studying his local geology for a very long time. The book you referenced is a pricey one. Wouldn't mind finding that one at a garage sale somewhere. If you've got a spare send it my way.
