I found a pice of opalised wood in British Columbia and had it ripped in half. It was 24"long and 18' wide by 10' thick. It was laying flat in the ground. I had it cut at a marble/granite counter top manufacturing plant. They cast it into a block to be held in the vice and then cut in half. They polished it as well for $300. I love the way the wood looks and am building rod iron bases to hold the 2 pieces for end tables. Maybe there is a place like this near you.
