Picture Jasper Geology

Has anyone seen any discussion of the formation of picture jaspers? Beyond a few references to water moving through formations and depositing minerals, I have not seen anything. I would love to find o geology-flavored discussion of this.

I think some picture jasper, like Rocky Butte, the formation has fractures mostly vertical and the scenes form perpendicular to the cracks, or in the horizontal plane. Yet other instances like Chicken Track Jasper, the plates are obviously along horizontal beds, and the scenes seem to be form water perfusing upwards into the bottom of the plate, or in the vertical plane.

Anyway, very curious and would appreciate any pointers t old newsletters, sections of geology texts, or useful websites

Thanks
