Re: 2012. Happy New Year!

Hi Ward,

Looking over your latest batch of photos has got me wondering if you'd be interested in authoring an article about the agate collecting you're doing in Michigan for publication by Bob's Rock Shop. You've got some superb material to use to profusely illustrate an article and you're already cutting and photographing it. So the thought occurs to me that all that's needed to to tie it together for a very nice online article is the write up.

I wouldn't expect you to disclose any particular site(s) where you're doing your collecting - in fact I've come to appreciate that publishing specific site information is a serious mistake. General locality information, such as a county, or a nearby city, is all that's needed and appropriate for establishing provenance.

I think some in-situ photographs of agates lying where you found them, and photos of what the exteriors look like "in the rough" so to speak, would add a significant amount of interest and educational value to an agate collecting article. I realize you probably haven't been doing that sort of documentation and acquisition, but I want to plant that seed for you to think about.

Let me know if you have an interest, and if so, of there is of course no rush or deadline. Excellence takes time...
