I received an e-mail yesterday From a Professor Eric Heinin De Carlo, from the University of Hawaii at Manoa, Department of Oceanography. According to him they are most likely chalcedony/quartz geodes. He claims to have found many of them through the years. He says that they range in size from 1/16th" - 2". They can be solid interiors or hollow. Many have very clear quartz crystals in the hollows.
I think due to the small size I will leave the ones I have uncut.
