Your agate resembles several which I collected in Nova Scotia in the mid-1990s. Very worn by water in my case, but clearly agate of basaltic origin. I also have Lakers in my collection which came from gravel pits in Arkansas; they show the sorts of extreme erosion as a consequence of glacial and river transport. I'd guess you're flummoxed by the fact that you don't normally see such erosional effects on the agates you find so far north. The condition of this find suggest a site of origin well to the north of you, followed by glacial/river transport and erosion.
