Tracy,
Your close-up photo is some type of porphyry (large crystals in a fine grained matrix). This is an igneous rock and the large dark crystals are probably some mineral in the amphibolite group, maybe hornblend. The lighter colored large crystals are too weathered to attempt an identification. It would be interesting to see a fresh surface.
The other photo is concrete containing chunks of dark rock. Hope this helps.
