Hey Glenn, I'll throw my 2 cents in. I would recommend an 8" saw for your first saw. You can cut some smaller rough material with no problem, and you can get 8" saw blades fairly thin for trimming your slabs. A 10" saw is a bit big for trimming in my opinion. I too would recommend finding a local rock club and become familiar with all the equipment they may have for your use. Only then will you be able to determine what saw best fits your needs. Nobody wants to spend their hard earned money on what doesn't work for them. Good luck in finding "Your" saw. Ward
