Re: Help Save Rockhound State Park, New Mexico

Please please please keep this site open for rockhounds. I live in Wisconsin and
have had the great pleasure of visiting New Mexico more than once. My first trip
in 1980, was for the express purpose of visiting Rockhound State Park and collecting.
At that time I was very impressed with the people, scenery and the joy of Deming.
We have returned for several visits, November 2010 was the most recent, enjoying the
Gem and Mineral Show in Las Cruses. We stayed for 4 days.

I work in education. I also work at Gem and Mineral Shows through out the Midwest.
Children are very much interested in rocks and minerals. With this economy,
rockhounding is a affordable and entertaining pasttime and family event. I think
that this interest will only continue.

New Mexico is a wonderful state, the Rockhound State Park is a destination for
myself and others. Please keep this treasure open for the rockhounders that come for
the thrill of the do-it-yourselfers.

Sincerely,
Kate Erikson
