Dear Chris;
Yes, Future & Mop & Glow DO work, but, ONLY if you intend to keep them indoors; That wax/plastic is water soluble & loses it's clarity rapidly, in even mild weathering. Lacquers are OK, but, they tend to be tacky, when warm enough. Go to an art/craft store & buy Krylon glossy clear coat (don't get matte, unless you really want to), which is a spray-on plastic that's near indestructable to weather or sunlight; if you think about it, it HAS to be, for display of water paintings/chalk work at outdoor fairs. I think you'll agree t5hat the results are JUST what you are looking for.
