Indian Paint Rocks?

I would like to find out about the rocks I grew up calling "Indian Paint Rocks". They vary in color (yellow, red, purple) and size (a quarter to two large hands) but all of them are hollow with a powderey substance inside, the color of the rock determines the color of the powder inside. They are lightwieght and easy to break open. I can not find them in any reference book. Any ideas what they could be? Location: Limestone/Freestone counties Texas
