Auto-feed Clutch Problem on a LS-12 Saw

The clutch is not working on a used LS-12 I set up.

I can see the threaded shaft turn. The spring on the clutch seems OK. I can pull the lever to open the jaws and slide the vise carriage back and forth. When I let go of the lever, the carriage locks in place. I can no longer move it.

I turned the saw over and looked at the threads on the clutch, and they do not appear striped, but I won't get a real good look until the oil drips off and I can run it upside down.

It does not look like it is slipping, but it might be and the noise of the saw is covering any noise of the clutch slipping.

Other than taking off the blade, wiping off the oil, and looking at it while it runs upside down, does anyone have advice on troubleshooting this?
