Nancy, You can also try ketchup. It lends itself to the vinegar and the acid of the tomato. The ketchup is used by many to clean dirty coins. If you do try the muriatic acid make certain not to forget you have your specimen in the solution or you may have no specimen at all. Whatever method you use you can do a final soaking with baking soda solution to help neutralize the effects of the acids. Good luck!
