I made buttons from deer antler some years ago. As far as I can remember, I cut them with a Dremel jigsaw (this was before I owned any rock-working saws). I cut them about 3/16 inch thick and drilled two holes for the thread. Don't rmember doing anythng else to them, and they have held up well over the years, husband is still wearing the wool shirt. (Was washable wool, and so buttons have gone through many washngs over th years.) Becky
