Re: Louisiana

Hi Donna,

In addition to the Palm wood, we have agates and silicified corals in the rivers in the northern half of the boot tip (Amite, Tangipahoa, Bogue Chitto, and Pearl). These agates and corals are also found in Mississippi--if you draw a line going southeast from Jackson to the eastern border of Mississippi and bordered on the west and south by the Mississippi River that is the area where our agates are found (Citronelle formation on your geologic maps). There are some campgrounds along these rivers in both states--check the Delorme atlases--that's probably your best bet for access to the rivers. There are also some canoeing outfitters--check the canoeing books for Mississippi and Louisiana.

Good luck!
Mark
