Loretta, 35 years ago I bought a Rock Rascal (my first lapidary unit)and had the same problems with sawing rocks as you are having. They are not really large enough to slice many rocks. They are mostly for trimming not slicing. If you are going slice with them, you need to go slow and not push the rock too hard into the saw blade. You might try sharpening your blade by running a fire brick or an old piece of grind stone through the saw. PS I still have my Rock Rascal and they are a great starter unit and nearly indestructible. Try to stick with small rocks and let the saw do the cutting, don't force it. Eventually you will need to get a larger saw for slabbing.
