Suggestions for these large purple rocks ive found

Ok, I already know what they are. Quartzite. However......generally, around here anyhow, most of the yard rocks you see are the pink ones but I am finding a very nice variety I have not seen before which were deposited here I believe from a glacier.

I live in KS btw. I have been scouring the tops of rocky hillsides. Originally this was to get rock for my wifes yard projects. However on my journeys here in the hills I am finding pieces, all the way from very small to very large.........of a purple variety. They are beautiful, to say the least. Some are solid purple, some are stripped with bands of purple and white. It is very sold material.

I'm not too much into cutting anymore, but with my years of rocking experience(I still collect) I won't say that being an avid rockhound walking thru the hillsides in a few select locations that I wasn't shocked to see purple rocks sticking up out of the ground. I was like hmmmm......call me crazy but that actually looks like something that could be of lapidary use. Not to mention a very welcome site for such a boring place to live as a rock buff.

So now I have been dragging this stuff home and piling it up lol. I have fist size pieces to boulders. I am just collecting the easy pickings, not digging.

I don't have pics yet but will have to wet some of them so I can get them circulated.

Truthfully im not really looking to drum up business here I just wanted to share my discovery as most people just walk over the top of them around here but I think they have potential.

I guess if I had a question it would be does anyone here have exp. working with this stuff???

Ok enough for now.....I will say I have a very sore back right now lol.

I do plan on contacting the local club and donate a piece in exchange for slabs and see if it isn't worth working with.

Thoughts?
