Geode filled with sandstone

My kids found a geode by a creek that comes down from the mountain on the way home from school. I broke it open and it is completely filled with sandstone. I have never seen or heard of anything like it and I can't find anything about it on the internet. Do you know anything about this type of rock formation? The sandstone is a light orange red typical of the area, Utah, and the outer layer is very dark grey almost black and is extremely smooth on the outside. I am assuming it is make up of a rock that has some iron in it because the sand on the outer edges is rust red and the outer surface of it has what looks like broken bubbles that have rusty metal in them. The outer layer also has small flecks of a sparkly mineral in it that is visible where it is broken. If you have in information to help me with this cool find my kids and I would appreciate it. Thanks.
