Re: Fossil hunting in Rhode Island?

Kathy, there are numerous places in RI for fossils but your best bet as a begginer is Cory's Lane in Portsmouth. Lots of plant fossils in soft shale near coal seams.
Go to a RI Mineral Hunters meeting at CCRI and/or check out the website at http://rimh/us for details and more info. Best bet is to go to one of our meeetings and we will be able to give moreinfo than I want to type into this website. RI Mineral Hunters also has a show at CCRI each year, we are a non-profit eduactional organization with mebers as diverse as doctors to ditch diggers but we are all rock and fossil hounds. Look forward to seeing you as a guest at a club meeting. Also you might try the Natural History Museum at Rogers Williams Park, they have several RI fossils and minerals on dispaly. BTW we have lot's of science teachers already in the club!
The old e-ink to our club in Bob's is wrong!
