Re: Ancient Horse's Tooth

Sharlene, I have found a couple of fossilized teeth near where I live that are similiar to yours. I had the opportunity to have them examined by some people from the Cranbrook Institute here in Michigan and I received 2 results. One was that they were horse teeth and the other was that they were camel teeth, yes camel teeth. Apparently we had at one time camel here in North America. At any rate I'm assuming that both horse and camel teeth must be very similiar. I mean after all I did have 2 "experts" look at them and had 2 results. It may be that one would have to have more of the skeletal parts to make an accurate determination. At any rate what you have is a very nice find and should be treasured. Maybe you will get a definitive answer some day. All the best, Ward.
