Richard,

I've been following your thread in hopes that someone could answer your question. I also have some of the little geodes that I acquired back in the mid to early 1970s at a rock show in Houston, Texas. You are right in that they came from Mexico. It seems that at the time every rock shop in the country sold them in 1 Lb bags. For the life of me I can't remember what they were called. If you can find a collection of Lapidary Journals going back to the 1970's you might find an ad for them or an article on them.
