I'm looking for rock collecting sites in the southeastern NY, north NJ area. I'll be staying in Spring Valley, NY in early April and will have time to make several short outings. I plan on Franklin NJ at least once; can anyone recommend a specific site there? Unfortunately I don't think I'll have time to get as far as Herkimer -- about an hour from Spring Valley is the most I am looking for. I found a lot of books on Amazon.com that cover the north east but I can't afford all of them--any specific book recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Also, there's a lot of rockhounding clubs listed for NY and NJ, if anyone knows which clubs cover that area please let me know. Thanks!
