Re: asbestos in serpentine - how to determine?

Chrysotile asbestos is a variety of serpentine. Almost all serpentine will have minute amounts of the chrysotile variety in the rock. However, only the material with visible fiber veins is going to hazardous in the raw form. those veins are 100% chrysotile and the tiny asbestos fibers will break away and become airborne.

I have been in the asbestos industry for over 20 years and am a degreed geologist as well.
