Re: Tumbling Fluorite?

Hi Dagasch
I have tumbled lots of different rocks over the years, but nothing as soft as fluorite. I would suggest a vibrating tumbler in stead of rotary tumbler simply because you can check on the fluorite progress once or twice a day in a vibrating tumbler and it would be a hassle in a rotary tumbler. As for the grit it all depends on how rough your fluorite is with vibrating tumbler you can keep a close eye on it and use coarse grit if your fluorite is really rough. As for polish I have used “Powered Spic & Span” on feldspar with good results in the past, but fluorite is going to be a crap-shoot. In Mexico I understand they use some sort of acid and dip the fluorite in it.
At any rate keep me posted on how it works out.
