Phil,What I am using is some rough stones that all I did was use the grinder to get a flat surface on the bottom. Once I had a flat stop on the bottom of the stone I washed it in plain water with a tooth brush. I dried the stone and let it set over night. Once the wax was melted I put the stone on the side of the pot and allowed it to warm up for approximately 30 minutes. I then turned the stone over and dipped the dowel in the wax and put it on the stone (still on the pot). I would let it set from another 30 minutes on the pot. I would then place the stone with the dop stik on a table to cool off. After it cooled off I would try and grind it. The stone would fall off after a few seconds (every time). The green wax I am using was purchased last week as well as the Covington dop pot. I assume that the wax is good only because I recently purchased it as well as the dop pot. Thanks, JNR
