I read your question and the replies. It takes me back to a time that, deceitfuly, seems not so long ago when I was a beginner in this wonderful art of lapidary. Your problem is not unusual. I think that, having tried every suggested procedure without sucess indicates that your wax may be old or the wrong type. Of course,your dop pot may be malfunctioning but I assume you'd have checked that out right away.
Try using some fresh green wax; buy a good book or dvd on lapidary, and above all, find a good gem & mineral club nearby. Nothing beats the hands-on instruction you can get in a good club. As for the super glue suggestion, it works well in many cases but the solvent used to dissolve it can harm some stones... be careful.
