I put a small amount of shellac on the stone with a Q-tip and let it dry.
Also place the per-form on the side of the dop pot to warm it up.

Make sure the stone is pretty warm and the wax on the stick is as melted as possible.
I use wooden dowel rods and make sure the stick is firmly saturated.

Once you put the stick onto the stone and the let the wax start to set in, try not to move the stick at all.

Also, while the wax is still pliable, carefully press it around the pre-form to get it spread out. Keep in mind that the wax is still very warm and can burn.
