Re: Polishing Lapis

Mike,

I use 3M diamond polishing cloths for finishing all soft stones like lapis. I begin with 1200 grit(15 micron), 8000 grit(3 micron), then 50,000 grit(.5 micron). It should give you a very good polish. To make the polishing cloths last longer, I buy the diamond grits that come in spray bottles and recharge them once in awhile. I have a 1200 grit cloth that I have used for years by doing this. The polishing cloths are a little expensive but last a long time and are the best way to finish softer stones.
