Re: Determining value of Alaskan jade rough?

Diane I am by no means a jade expert, but I have been learning recently a little about the various types of jade and something about values. The value of your jade depends a lot on what it is from and just how good of a jade it is. The value can vary from about $3.00 a pound to the sky is the limit. Since you have narrowed it down to Alaska jade I would say it is probably more than a $3.00 a pound jade but certainly not a the top quality jade. You really need to show it to someone that is an expert and in the business of selling jade. If I was you, I would take it to a gem and mineral show and show it to someone there selling jade. You can go to the Stewart's Photo Shop in Anchorage web site and get a sense of some of the jade that is available from Alaska.
