Hello Adelaide,

Can you determine the cross-sectional shape of the black crystals? Tourmalines usually show a triangular shape, with each side of the triangle bowed outward (convex). Amphiboles, including hornblende, show a diamond shape. And pyroxines, which include augite, are usually square.
