I am from South Bend, In.
There is a quarry in Ft. Wayne that schedules saturday collecting occasionally. Can`t remember the name of it though. Southern Indiana has some real nice fossils and geodes. Petoskey Mi. has - you guessed it Petoskey stones. Terre Haute area has ferns, Southern Illinois has fluorite in the forest area.
I go a few times a year to collect Ohio flint, Indiana geodes, Ohio fossils etc. and would welcome another collector, there is plenty for everyone.
