You ought to check out some local gem & mineral clubs bear you. The area you are in has some very fine clubs. A club will help you learn about rocks and minerals, assist you in getting started collecting and cutting, and introduce you to others with like interests. Good luck to you. Sounds like the rockhound bug has bitten you. It'll give you much adventure and satisfaction for many, many years.
