Junior rockhounds

If anyone thinks that our hobby is dying, you should have been with me yesterday when I gave four back to back presentations on rocks and minerals to fourth grade classes at a new charter school. Kids are VERY interested in earth sciences if you make them aware. These kids were sponges for information and if you want to raise the awareness and gain future members for your club, schools are a great place to start. Our club, The Charlotte Gem and Mineral Club has recently re-activated a junior rockhounds program held on Saturday mornings and it is working very well.
